Jakarta, October 7, 2015 – AEON MALL will begin construction at Jakarta Garden City (370 Ha), a township located in Cakung, East Jakarta. This township is developed by PT Mitra Sindo Sukses (a subsidiary of PT Modernland Realty Tbk.). The groundbreaking event was held on Wednesday, October 7, 2015.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Mr. William Honoris, President Director of PT Modernland Realty Tbk., Mr. Andy K. Natanael, President Director of PT Mitra Sindo Sukses, and Mr. Ryuma Okazaki, President Director of PT AEON MALL Indonesia.
AEON MALL at Jakarta Garden City will be AEON MALL's second in Indonesia, after the first AEON MALL in BSD City, Serpong. AEON MALL is the largest shopping mall operator with developers from Japan, having operated over 150 malls in 5 countries, including Japan, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Indonesia. In Indonesia, AEON MALL has been operating under PT AEON MALL Indonesia since October 2012.
"We are optimistic that AEON MALL Jakarta Garden City will be successful just like other AEON MALLs because of its Japanese style concept, which is different from other malls in Indonesia. PT AEON MALL Indonesia has purchased 8.5 Ha of land from PT Modernland Realty Tbk. AEON MALL Jakarta Garden City is located on the main road of Jakarta Garden City, a dynamic and prospective area that will become the main road connecting Kelapa Gading in North Jakarta and Harapan Indah in Bekasi.
AEON MALL Jakarta Garden City will not only be a place for shopping but also offers various entertainment, food and beverages, and much more.
The mall will consist of 4 floors of retail space, accommodating around 200 tenants, some of which are from Japan, including AEON General Merchandising Store as the anchor tenant. Other tenants will provide fashion, shoes, sportswear, music stores, salons, enrichment schools (courses), fitness centers, children's play areas, entertainment centers, and a food court at AEON MALL. AEON MALL Jakarta Garden City targets the middle-class market, so it will not feature luxury brands. AEON MALL has adopted Japanese mall standards, "We will ensure AEON MALL meets all the cleanliness and security standards similar to malls in Japan," said Ryuma Okazaki.
AEON MALL Jakarta Garden City will stand on a building area of 135,000 m², with a total Net Lease Area (NLA) of 71,000 m² and parking facilities with a capacity of 3,000 parking spaces.
William Honoris, President Director of PT Modernland Realty Tbk., mentioned that the development of AEON MALL will add value to Jakarta Garden City, where all daily needs will be provided within the city, such as homes, business centers, schools, entertainment facilities, and shopping centers.
